Seiyuus' Nail Art

Hirota Shion title=Seiyuu blogs have a number of common subjects. Food is the most common: sushi, curry, desserts, coffee, beer, cookies, etc., etc.

Of course, publicizing new work is the whole point of the exercise, so that's there, too. But trips to the hairdresser, and new outfits also loom large.

However, a very common subject for blog posts is new nails.

Seiyuu often seem to be showing us photos of their new nails. Search Google images for ネイル (the Japanese for "nails") and you'll see many different styles. Or check this blog of a Japanese nail salon that has served at least one seiyuu.

Just today, Koshimizu Ami (below, left) and Sanpei Yuuko both posted pics of their new nails. Now, tell me they don't live together, lol. At least they help each other figure out how to keep up the posting rate on their blogs. Ami says she made one finger brown like the chocolate Japanese girls give on Valentine's Day. I like Yuuko's shorter nails.

Anyway, here is a wall of images of the nails of various seiyuu that I happen to have found in their blogs. Mouseover to find out whose nails are whose:

Ugh. Those pictures will ensure that my nails are properly trimmed for at least the next two months. Seriously... The nightmares.

I'm a girl and I think those nails are absolutely horrid. They're impractical too. How are you supposed to do anything with nails that long and covered with all that crap. o_O

lol Isn't it like the girly thing to do in Japan to have ridiculously embellished nail art? They probably have magazines just for the hobby.

Minorin doesn't do it often, since she plays guitar, so it really is a bother to have them.

It seemed ridiculous to me at first, too. It still does, really, for all the reasons people have stated or implied.

But I can at least kind of get what their feelings are as they do it. It's a whole new realm for expression/ornamentation. It's cheaper and more changeable than jewelry or shoes. And less permanent than a tattoo.

I too don't really see how you can do anything in long nails without breaking them all the time. But I see people working at cash registers or computer keyboards with nails that long.

To be truthful, most of the nail patterns I see here don't feel very artistic to me. I like Fukuhara Kaori's shorter example, the photo with the red print in the background. And it might just be the light, but I thought Nazuka Kaori's big spray of gold suited her. Takagaki Ayahi's example with the splash of pink and yellow was hard to resist. The second-last Hirano Aya example, the one with the drops of gold, was well done. And Sasaki Nozomi's cat-face was cute -- and so suitable as to be almost self-caricature.

These nails just shout out "I'm a consumerist you will never be able to afford." I wonder how seiyuu-ota can live with themselves knowing that their objects of adoration are such shallow creatures.
Still, props for the post. It made me feel good knowing that my gf has a habit of biting her fingernails off asap.

Seen "blinged" nails before on TV and so funny, yet it's one of several ways they want to express themselves.

But personally, I'd rather have normal fingernails (be it mine or my future girlfriend). :P

Reading this article i thought "Aya Hirano" coz i've seen a lotta pics with her nails done and yes, you've posted the most pics of her nails, lol. Some are scary, some are really nice o_o;; *looks at own nails* yes, i prefer normal thanks.
lol nana only got a finger in compared to the other seiyuu's full hands (5 fingers)

The content you have provided is pretty interesting and useful and I will surely take note of the point you have made in the blog.

Today while I was surfing the Internet, I read about Gel Nails being the latest trend now in the nail fashion industry. After
reading about gel nails, I think it’s a great way to dress up your nails giving them a trendy look. I also came across this site gel-nails where you can check out some really cool stuff for your nail decoration.

If you are a professional nail artist or run a nail salon, you can get a bulk order discount and use the best nail products for your customers. I have bought the professional luxury gel nail kit from here and this is great value for my money.

I thought this information might be useful for anyone looking for genuine nail decoration stuff and may not know where to buy them from.

Nail art is a creative field and the fashioning and designing of nails is becoming more and more innovative. Various mediums like dried flowers, beads and fabrics can be used to enhance the beauty of nails.

With the onset of creative techniques and imagination, French manicure nail art is highly in vogue. Nail art is suitable for French manicured nails since these nails are extended for longevity and provide a good base for nail art.
