2channel's Favorite Seiyuus

Mizuki Nana is by far 2channel's favorite seiyuu -- or at least the one they want to talk about most these days. 2channel is the vast Japanese message board whose anime threads are a hotbed of Japanese otaku. (mouseover images for captions)

Surpisingly, the second-most-talked-about seiyuu is the beautiful Chihara Minori. This is a clear indication that singing is of tremendous interest, since those two are probably currently the two most popular singer-seiyuus. Nana-chan is definitely the most popular, especially since her appearance on a top mainstream Japanese music show.

Tamura Yukari, the long-time idol seiyuu who made her name as Nanoha and is now starring in the ecchi comedy B-gata H-kei, comes next. She is also a singer.

And then we have Hirano Aya, whose role as Suzumiya Haruhi propelled her to the top, and whose beauty and visibility may be helping to keep her there -- along with her own singing. She is also by far the most hated seiyuu on 2channel, with almost half as many threads of posts against her as normal threads. Each 2channel thread represents a thousand posts.

Then we get to a couple of seiyuus who don't do as much singing, but both of whom do moe roles: Asumi Kana, who plays Yuno in Hidamari Sketch and Poplar in Working; and Iguchi Yuka, who plays Index in To Aru Majutsu no Index and is one of the stars of the new ecchi comedy Mayoi Neko Overrun.

Here is a list of the top 50 threads on the seiyuu board at 2channel, by number of posts per day. This list -- especially the bottom half of it -- will shift over time, as different seiyuus gain and lose prominence. But this is where we are today.

Yuuki Aoi Fans React to Ichiban Ushiro no Dai Maou Event at TAF

The Ichiban Ushiro no Dai Maou event at the Tokyo International Anime Fair (TAF) on Saturday, March 28, featured seiyuus Toyosaki Aki, Hikasa Youko, and Yuuki Aoi (l-r).

Of the three, it was the Yuuki Aoi fans on 2channel who were bowled over by it, with fans of the other two more interested in their roles in K-On!!

Ao-chan's fans have been loading her current 2channel thread with admiration all week, especially since a report of the event appeared. "Why isn't there a cute otaku girl like that in my class?" lamented one poster. "I'd like to play God Eater with her," writes another, referring to her recent enjoyment of that game. Another posts pics of a BL manga she has said she likes, and suggests that it would be a big hurdle for a guy to get over. Another said he'd love to talk with her, even on the phone. Others say they would like to do other things with her....

Ichiban Ushiro no Daimaou -- Characters and Seiyuus

I was surprised to find myself liking the first episode of Ichiban Ushiro no Daimaou as much as I did.

Directed by the director of Shakugan no Shana, and based on a novel, it moved quickly through an interesting set-up with good characters and excellent voices. There was some actual humour, and some fairly starry magic. Even the fanservice was effective without being excessive.

I enjoyed the voices so much that I thought I'd make a characters and seiyuu page. Click here or on the image to go to the full page, which shows pics of the main characters and their voice-actors, and gives info about the voice-actors.

April Fool's Wedding: Sanpei Yuuko and Nazuka Kaori

With a minute to go on April 1 (Japan time), Sanpei Yuuko posted this picture of Nazuka Kaori (left) in her blog, with the title: "Wife."

Checking over at Kaori's blog, she had posted the pic on the right at 9:01 p.m., with the title: "I got married (≧∇≦)."
