Yuuki Aoi plays the new character class Academic in the MMORPG Dragon Nest. A clip of voice samples demonstrates some of the special quality of Ao-chan's voice. (Embedded Nicovideo clips take a while to appear. Click the three dots in the lower right to hide the comments.)
The bounce and flexibility are striking. Her voice sounds tight and strong to me, with smooth edges, all the sounds concentrated together. I don't know any other high voice with that tightness and power. I'm just talking about the voice as a voice, and not even considering her acting or her vocal fantasies. I think she is an excellent actress, too, but I understand that some people prefer a more naturalistic style.
Unfortunately, Academic is not yet part of the North American version of the game, which itself is not yet fully online. She doesn't appear to be in the International version, either. But she is in the Japan version, the China version, the Taiwan version, and the Korea version.
I don't know if Ao-chan's voice is limited to the Japan version or not. The game is from a Korean game company, Eyedentity Games. Here are the game's Japanese Wikipedia page and the English Wikipedia page.
Here is a photo of Ao-chan with Dragon Nest publicity material:
And here is a Japanese PV featuring Academic:
Thursday: I just found a promo message from Ao-chan for her role in the game. Clearly done at the same time as the photo above:
And finally finally, here is a little cast photo for Horizon in the Middle of Nowhere (aka, Horizon on the Borderlands), revealing that Ao-chan has a role in that, too, bringing her total of new roles this season to three: Last Exile, Ben-Tou, and Horizon:
